FOR YOUTH

TRAUMA-INFORMED

Adolescence (10-19 years of age) is the time when actions are primarily motivated by impulse.  Although self-regulation is developing, feelings can be a greater influence on decision-making than logic. At ReGen Next, we believe that WHAT you think matters.  But, we also know that trauma can affect HOW you think because it affects how you feel which then affects how you respond.

Violence is a risk behavior that produces trauma. Youth in general are too often impacted by violence as witnesses/bystanders, victims, or perpetrators per the US Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention.  Bullying, domestic abuse at home, fights at school and gun violence in the streets are examples of experiences that the youth we serve have shared with us.

At ReGen Next, we are making a conscious effort to include evidence-based, trauma-informed programming for youth and families.  By doing so, we hope to bring greater awareness and understanding of the effects of trauma and assist in the healing process of those who have experienced it.

Mind Matters - Overcoming Adversity/Building Resilience is a 12-lesson curriculum from the  Dibble Institute that is designed to help participants recognize and regulate emotional responses while building resiliency when facing difficult circumstances. Topics include: self-soothing techniques, identifying emotions, building empathy and living intentionally.

Designed for ages 12 years and older, these sessions can be presented as a comprehensive series or individually as supplemental lessons.

ReGen Next-Taking Relationships From Convenience To Commitment

HEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS

Media and societal influences often leave the impression that situation-ships are the new norm for relationships.  Cheating or being cheated on seems commonplace.  Our ReGen Next Survey findings, however, show that most high school and college students want commitment (the monogamous, not polyamorous, kind). In fact, the majority of college students surveyed (including those who submitted negative descriptors for marriage) aspire to marry within the next 10 years.

At ReGen Next, we want to equip teens and young adults with the information that will help them to build deeply-rooted,

healthy relationships that last, changing their hopes for long-term commitment into reality.

Popular topics include:

  • Brain Science - Facts vs Feelings
  • What's Your Love Language?
  • Relationship Intentionality - What Do You Really Want?
  • Six Building Blocks of Healthy Relationships
  • The Value of Self-Care (Stress Management)
  • Family Connections Matter
  • Porn: It's Not As Harmless As You Think
